A little more day 5

Off in the coach across Accra to the VSO Programme Office.

Everyone is very happy because they are about to receive their pay for the next 3 months - just over 1000 Ghana cedis.

Not only that, but lunch as well.....

and a chance to see where we are all going....

OK, we've now spent too much of the money on Western food treats at the Koala centre, which is a shopping centre and not a koala sanctuary as one of our number thought. We bought the makings of sandwiches for 12+ hour bus journey tomorrow, and a towel as a present for the Walewale chief
and so some of us checked up on what we had spent already
but some couldn't resist the chance to stock up further on toiletries

before last night at the Sunlodge hotel and a sing-song to Anthony's guitar, with some duets including Emily (no photos as photographer was busy copying photos onto volunteers' USB sticks).

  1. Wow Charlie & Mike you are really there. It all looks so exciting but a bit scary. Mum, Phil,Lidia & Monica are coming to lunch tomorrow. Life goes on here, (enjoying my baths, but not to rub it in!) Keep posting the news & photos. Lis

  4. Journey yesterday was pretty grim as I was sat at the back over the engine and e air con was dodgy. In the end, my feet got so hot that I had to curl up on the seat for the last 6 hours. Cold shower and comfy bed were heaven when we arrived after 16 hours door to door. Tamale is our major centre for shopping up in North and it will take us 2 hours to get here from Walewale so we are cheking it out. Hope to be in our house in Walwale on Friday. xx

  6. Hey Charlotte. It's exciting reading about what you're up to. Slightly disappointed though to hear that Powerpoint gets everywhere. I'll have to teach Esther where Ghana is. Good luck with the chief - hope he likes the towel.

  7. Hi Charlie,
The scenery looks very similar to Gambia at the moment. Hope you will be able to keep us up to date at Walewale. Mum is doing really well at the moment. Looking forward to hearing from you again soon. Lis XX
